I went to the Peasents concert yesterday. They are a local band in midwest Iowa that play music that is all together moving, uplifting, and inspiring. When we got there everyone was outside most of them smoking their favorite cigarette or pipe waiting for the band to get done warming up. There couldn't have been more then 40 people there standing in their garage lit by white Christmas lights and a couple lamps. The smell of incense still permeates my coat. 3 of the other people there were my closest friends. You know the ones that you'd share anything with. The people you wouldn't mind crying or celebrating with. We all just stood their as the music surrounded us. every once in a while it took us to the point of head bobbing, knee shaking, and random spurts of dance.
To be honest I don't know if I could have dreamed of a better night. Standing there with our arms touching momentarily before we couldn't take it anymore, turning around and whispering, smiling, staring, dancing, jumping.
When I got back all I wanted to do was write and play. Oh feeble attempts to create masterpieces that fall broken in their own beautiful ways. I just need a little more inspiration.
